Was working in a dealership parts room at that time. I remember seeing the linerless aluminum blocks in the parts book. The price was astronomical (for that time), like about $12k. Available in 465cid, 495cid, and 502cid. The showroom sales materials were sketchy regarding the L88 (and ZL1) motors. Little info available, which I'm sure was by design. I remember customers ordering cars, "why pay more for a 430hp motor, when I can have 435 for less?" In 1969 ( a year after the auction car....), there were 2 variations of the 350cid motor, and 4 to 6 - depending upon how you count them - versions of the 427cid. Rear axle ratios were wide open, anything from 2.73 to 4.56 was available. I still have the showroom brochures floating around here somewhere.... Hans.
