Remember Mark, who lived across the street from me?    He had a contract with the FBI to sell all their undercover cars.   They set the price, vehicles were transferred to him for 120 days then sold and registered under new owners.   He got a fixed amount of the sale.   There was no haggling on the price.  This is it, take it or leave it.

Mine had NO emblems when I got it.
I guess the feds wanted it to look like a stock G body
Although the Grannys were stopped in 87, this one was titled as an 88 probably due to delays in Gov't procurement processes.  It also had factory tan paint and a tan interior.  All the black interior came in a box with the car.  I think there was something like 43 of these delivered to the feds.  Only had 16K on the odo when I got it in 94...  for $8K

Buick Grand National . . .

I have always been a fan of Buicks ever since my folks got a new 1955 Buick Super.  Vertical valve covers made the T-buckets even cooler.  Not to mention Max Balchowsky’s Old Yeller in the late ‘60’s.

But a Grand National?  Now I need some education on emblem placement.  First I was under the impression the “Buick” emblem was no where to be found. The “Grand National” was affixed, in some years, and only existed on either side of the front fender and either later or earlier – also on the deck lid.

Then there was talk about a white sticker in trunk that stated WE-4.  Super duper Turbo?

Anyhow – a Grand National was cool and was one hot car until the ZR-1.

Ah yesh - When GM turned their engineering staff loose in each of their five marques.  Those were pretty cool times.

Mine was an ex-FBI car and had a few more tweaks...  it was a hoot.

Someone's going to have fun with it...

But worth that kinda money?

Maybe if it was a GNX...  or a Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe
