Erik,

You're as funny as big head Dennis who kept telling me how TSLA (stock, not car) was going to crash. We would banter about it every year when the memory on my FB wall popped up on the initial discussion. Just in case he (and you) are right, I sold almost all of my TSLA stock a few months ago (it's what now makes me secure in retirement), but I held onto that initial $2,300 investment just for fun (up a bit more than 6,000% so far). The rest I sold except for 50 shares from 2016 that have a meager 2,100% gain.

Stock market speculation does not a long-term company make (hence my divestment of nearly all of my stock), but if this were a FB memory it would pop up in five years and either you could point and make fun of me for saying that Tesla the company would still be in the game, or I could smugly say "See?" Maybe we'll both remember this moment.

To be fully fair, and I had a Model S P85 for 90,000 miles, your comment on the paint quality is spot on. Well, I can't say whether it is as good or worse than a Toyota, but I can say I was disappointed with the orange peel. Paint color was very nice (I had red, and the only red I wish it could have been instead would be the Mazda version of red). I had it corrected, filmed (Suntek), and ceramic coated (Modesta), and at that point the paint looked spectacular.

-matt....wishing for a Model S Plaid, but not as a virtue signal, just because the car is fast and cool. :)

We have a Prius, wife’s daily beater.  Shares the garage with the 365, the Mondial and the Bug.

You’re absolutely right, the Telsa 4 houses over doesn’t have the same build or paint quality as the Toyota.

Now that the real car companies are in the game, I give them 5 years, tops.

It comes with a steering wheel and a couple of pedals.  You don't have to use autopilot.  If you can drive a Ferrari, you can drive a Tesla so I think your family is safe.  And they have really good crash test ratings.

What virtue signaling are you talking about?  A lot of people buy these cars for the novelty and performance.  This isn't a prius.

Crashing into parked police cars while on autopilot is a no charge standard feature as well.  That sort of matters to me, especially if I’m going to put my family in one.

The virtue signaling of the upper middle class, while amusing, is actually pretty vulgar.

The Model S Plaid is 0-60 in under 2s and has a top speed of 200.  If quickness is all that matters, the Tesla will bear most cars.

Ok if any of you know the Dodge Challenger crowd please let them know that they can’t out accelerate or out handle a 575.
This is an urgent public safety announcement
I was coming home from a slot car race on I -75 just north of Tifton Ga when this bubba in a comes up on me. I was doing all of 80 at the time in 6 th gear.
With at least 2 plus miles of clear unobstructed on I -175 ( you could land a plane here and yes I would know ) view an no traffic he stays on my bumper even after I move all the way over to the right.
Tired of this I down shift to 3rd and floor it, shifting at the high 6 mark.
The brick tries to follow, only to be a speck in the rear window.
I touched 160 briefly when I realized that was insane.
So please someone go on the red neck web boards and show them a picture of a horse, and tell them when they see this picture they they should not try to play with it!
Full throttle acceleration in a 575 is unbelievable.
There is nothing like. 12 cylinder, nothing.
Except flying a fighter with afterburners.
Get used to It Lash….
