Can’t tell you much about foam but powder = disaster.  It gets in every nook and cranny and is moderately corrosive. Wires rubber and plastic melt   Metal pits. Clean up is a pita. 

However they are somewhat idiot proof.  Unlike halon and co2 which require proper technique (aim low and sweep up the fire in a slow back and forth pattern)
