Concours – to be or not to be

Well, regardless of placement – no one loses in a concours

Crescent Beach, Surrey, BC, Canada:

It was the Crescent Beach Concours D’Elegance. The last two years have been cancelled (for obvious reasons) so, hopefully it’ll happen again next year.

I was invited with my 308 back in 2012 and it came in 2nd place. The photo I included below was from my second appearance (with my GT4 again, parked beside the 275) back in 2017.

It’s a low-key event, but still attracts top-quality cars from both here in Canada and the U.S.

Yes, I’ve heard about "Best of France and Italy” and our very own Rob Garven has participated in it and met Jay many years ago...

Interesting –

Where is this picture taken?

Looks like low key fun . . .

In the Los Angeles area there is an affair at Woodley Park . . ‘car show’ not a concours.

Best of France and Italy

Sun, Nov 7, 9 AM

Woodley Park

6350 Woodley Ave, Van Nuys, CA

Woodley Park
www.franceanditaly.com

Jay Leno will usually show up with some contraption or aircraft powered special.

Indeed. Although I could do without the play-by-play commentary.

The only exception is Derek Hill’s assessment of the 250 GTO. I still watch this on a regular basis. The emotion behind the experience of driving the car, especially one his Dad had driven in full-on race mode is palpable:

My last encounter with a 275 was Jon Shirley’s NART Spider at a local concours... Competing in the same class! I didn’t have a chance. But to be on the same field, parked next to it, was a win for me and a memory I’ll never forget.
