I hope no one takes any of this seriously. I certainly don’t. In fact, this thread gave me some pretty good chuckles.
Lash and I communicate regularly off list. I think if you only knew what cars he currently has in his collection, you’d be quite impressed.
Put it this way, I was ready to buy a car from another country, sight-unseen based on his assessment and recommendation. I stuck to my guns with price (again, based on his opinion) and it was the seller who was being a dick that made me walk away. I walked away from about 10 cars, over a period of more than a year. I followed your rules #1, 3, and 5 (not to that extent but close). I’ve had a fun summer so far with my Mondi (bought from a dealer! I broke your rule #2!) and had an absolute blast yesterday as I had a pro photo shoot done of the car. Lots of driving, action shots and stills. I’m waiting for the photographer to get me the proofs (took about 46GB worth of pics and videos)... Will post to the ‘List later.
You know, we all do this Ferrari ownership thing for fun.

Clyde’s Rule for buying a Ferrari
1. Buy it like a drug deal, cash. You work hard for your money make it worth it!
2. Don’t ever buy it from a dealer if you can find it from a person, dealers number one job is to take you for every dime they can.
3. Be prepared to walk away from the deal, remember they want to sell, you don’t have to buy.
4. If you want to know what the Ferrari is worth, shop the same car at your dealer or any other dealer, that’s the true price of that car! That’s the price your looking for.
The FML and CAV are dreamland, and it looks as if Bring a Trailer is approaching that as well.
5. No service records 20-25% off the top like right now!
6. Never let Lash in on the negotiations!!!!!!
7. When it doubt call CLYDE!

Or dipshits in big pickups towing race car trailers... oh, wait... nevermind.

I wish Luke would post more! I always enjoy the recollections of his experiences in Europe.
I have yet to take LL grade in something of mine but the last time (this past August) I did it in a Lancia Delta Integrale Evo II.
Fun road even if you get stuck behind rental cars and mid 70's pickups towing big trailers.

He was indeed, a great guy.
Like Luke and Clyde he was ex-Airforce, AA pilot who got grounded on a medical but was retained for his knowledge and was working in their Sims. I called the cell number I had for him when I saw the 355 stuff. But it now belongs to a lady who did not know him. He took me for a jaunt up and over Los Laureles grade right after he put a Tubi system on to fix his exhaust. He was also a Pantera guy.
