Rick,
You don't need a leaky British motor to lubricate the chassis. I'm not sure when they stopped using the Bijur lubrication system, but on my 1939 Phantom-III, I have a canister on the firewall that I pour non-detergent motor oil in. Every 100 miles (and at every start up), I push a pedal to actuate the Bijur lubrication system. There are 20-25 lubrication points throughout the car including the suspension (even the rear leaf springs). Each of these lubrication points has a "drip plug" calibrated to how much oil is needed for lubrication. There's even one at the throwout bearing where oil will drop into a little cup, overflow and then lubricate the throwout bearing. For most of the lubrication points, the oil drips to the appropriate spot and then as it lubricates the area then the rest just drips on the ground.

It’s a Rolls… If you take out the Brit motor, how will you keep the suspension lubricated?Add enough batteries to get one of those boats rolling… will it comply with weight per axle laws? They were made for silent travel and you can’t get more quiet than that.

...And no, the main selling feature of a Rolls is waftability. Once you really make it in life, you don't need to race from meeting to meeting, they'll start when you arrive. I still haven't gotten used to everyone standing up when I walk in, but I'll go with it...
