Hmmmm – didn’t seem to help Dan Gurney . . . . 

 

in Brock Yates book – “Brock Yates Sunday Driver” chapter 14, Yates tells the madcap exploits of the second, but first competitive “Cannon Ball Baker Sea to Shining Sea Memorial Trophy Dash.”

 

Seems that in the early morning Arizona desert dawn they blew by a Highway Patrolman having his morning coffee in a crappy little café just off the highway while doing about 140 mph. 

 

Rattled the dishes and pissed the cop off who took after, and caught, Gurney and Yates trying to evade him at a quick turn off the highway gas station.  Press hard . . . you’re making five copies. [editors note]

 

A fun 50 year (ye gads) old book.  Should be right next to your 50 copy of the 1972 book:  “Chevrolet=Racing . . . ? Fourteen years of Raucous Silence!!”

 

Anyway Mark – It would be fun to try .. . the cop may be laughing so hard he’ll let you go with a warning.
