The garage is my fortress of solitude...  save the dog.

Of the numerous evaluations I've to process through in my time, I seem to bounce back and forth from INTJ to ISTP.  Depending on who is doing the eval.
But I have doubts of the MBTI... as it relates to my MTBI.
Especially when they rated Hillary as an INTJ.  I think it was done more on impression than actual analysis.

I usually get labeled as an INTJ.  I've found that I'm much more comfortable in larger groups and with new people than I used to be, but I still want my downtime to be alone to recharge.

I had dinner with ADM. Mike Rogers the week before Thanksgiving, one comment he made was describing his home library as his fortress of solitude, I get it.

I love this question: “41. I like to collect information about categories of things (e.g., types of cars, birds, trains, plants).”

Jesus, by the amount of car-related books, magazines and ephemera, plus all of the terabytes on my desktop... I know Rob Garven has that alone on GT4 stuff!

In regards to introversion, I have taken multiple MBTI tests and consistently come up with INFJ or INTJ results, but I take it with a grain of salt as I find myself neither introverted nor extroverted (and there’s a name/label for that too! Ambivert!).

As for autism, one of my best friends was classified as autistic. I’m 45 and I’ve known him for 38 years. We went to the same elementary, high school and college and he lived a few streets over from me. We call each other every weekend and have been doing so since I moved here (25 years ago). Today, he’d be considered as having Asperger’s, since back then, autism was a blanket diagnosis for the whole range of this condition. I couldn’t care less what he’s labelled as, he is the nicest human being I’ve ever met and I’m proud to be his friend.

Oh what a softball, but it's Christmas so I'm not going to knock it out of the park.

That's from one side of the world of psychology.

There IS another.

From an article earlier this year...   I tend to agree with this one.

While introverts are often labeled as shy, aloof, and arrogant, Jonathan Rauch explains that these perceptions result from the failure of extroverts to understand how introverts function.

"Extroverts have little or no grasp of introversion," Rauch suggests. "They assume that company, especially their own, is always welcome. They cannot imagine why someone would need to be alone; indeed, they often take umbrage at the suggestion. As often as I have tried to explain the matter to extroverts, I have never sensed that any of them really understood."

As a kid in the late 60s, I got a Peanuts desk placard with Linus Van Pelt sitting on the floor holding his blanket.  The thought bubble above his head read "I love mankind, it's people I can't stand."    I've stuck with that most of my life.  People who are introverted are not misanthropic. Most introverts are very interesting people who are themselves interested in "certain" others.  We are not phobic but rather, have a real sense of Pertaedet...  simply feeling annoyed, bored or disgusted by others' need for non-stop talking and socializing.  Small talk is something that makes most introverts cringe. What we want is a reason to talk.

Because of the way I think... which is almost always (five 9s) misread, I was recently asked if I was Autistic...  I didn't take offense.  Actually approached it with some level or curiosity.  It would explain some things (high function in certain areas, intense focus, ability to visualize, synesthesia.. and yes, being a bit of an introvert).   But I have been assured by a Practicing NeuroPsychologist that Autism is a true disorder and I have NO SUCH disorder... perhaps some traits of the disorder.   But I found the research fascinating.   Here, take 2 minutes and see where you fall.  I was low 40s.

Introvert is an often misused term.  A true introvert hates people.  They will rarely refer to themselves as an introvert.  They are honest and will tell you that they don't interact much because they hate people.  People who refer to themselves as an introvert are generally someone that most people don't like.  People avoid them versus the other way around.

Every time I hear "introvert" I think of Kimi.

In one of his interviews after his Championship he was asked if he was always so glum and introverted.  He said he was quite happy and almost everyone in Finland was an introvert.  He said you can tell if a Finn is an extrovert, he'll look at YOUR shoes.

I was talking to a Navy buddy this evening, it was his birthday.  His son followed in his footsteps, flew fighters, now flies for UPS.  The Son is very involved in the Yachting lifestyle (especially since his father-in-law passed and left them a lot of money and houses on 3 continents).   Apparently the whatever Yacht group mailing list he is a part of was getting annoyed by several of their members droning on and on about their FERRARIS...   the gall...

As my Grandma used to say:  Some people would scream if you hung them with a NEW rope.
