Sounds like it was a great time!

I wish I was closer...love that track and it would have been cool to see both champs swap.

We were in the grandstands directly across from the pit lane.  It was a great view, but because of the weather, they did have a lot under tent/canopy.  But great view nonetheless.

Somewhere I have some crappy cell phone photos/videos (not even a good cell phone, by today's standards) and if I can find them, I'll post one or two.  But the video in the OP is probably better anyway....

GP, that is amazing that you got to go.

How close were you to the pit lane?

The both were having a lot of fun.

June 14, 2011.  I was there.  Was in SYR for work, and Dad saw it in the Syracuse paper.  I got home from work about 0700 and we took off for the Glen - Dad drove, I slept.

Rain delays, but finally cars on track.  Well, "car" on track is, I guess, more accurate.  It was fun watching my Dad's reaction.  He had gone to many Grand Prix races in the 50's and 60's (Doug A - if I had to bet, I'd bet that you and he were at some of the same races!), but had never seen a modern Grand Prix car.  He was amazed at the sounds and the speeds (even on a damp track).

And the best part of all?  It was a FREE event.  🙂
