LT1 is a bad choice.  If they wanted a first gen small block, they
should have looked back a few years.  The LT1 is 2nd gen, with the
major difference being the distributor relocated to the lower front of
the block, and a different water pump.  Both of which are the main
failure points on the motor.  These things are one rain storm away
from needing a distributor overhaul.  Horrible design.

But, yes, any LS series would have been far better.
