Pretty much from the minute they implied that so close to the race, I assumed one of two things (or both): 1) Lewis had already planned some sort of break and this was a way to hang it on the FIA - or – 2) Lewis just wanted his ego stroked some more and a rumor that he was leaving would bring a legion of adoring fans to social media telling him that the sport can’t survive without him. Either way, I’m hoping it’s true but assuming it’s not. I would enjoy next season so much more without him. I respect his talent and the fact that he’s always smart enough to do and say the right things when the cameras are rolling, but
I feel like you can tell that it’s always forced, not heartfelt. With big changes coming to the cars and so many interesting young talents, I’d like for them to think they had real shots for a season and see what happens.
