Between 1962 and 1964, all Ferrari 250 GTO models were built and sold for £6,000 each. Nick bought his Ferrari in 1977 for £37,000 using the money coming from the release of The Dark Side Of The Moon album. People were telling him that he was crazy spending this fortune for a car. In 2010 Nick turned down a $30 million offer for the car and in 2013 Paul Pappalardo sold his car 250 GTO for the record amount of 53$ million making the GTO the most expensive car ever._________________________________________________________________https://classic-grid.com/ferrari-250-gto-nick-mason-1962/Brian E. Indeed. I’ve mentioned here before of numerous Ferraris I passed years ago that were Toyota range. The biggest kicker was a 328 for $35K in Houston Texas. That car was breathtaking (Red/Crema/Red carpets). Blown Marelli ignition box and those were only $700 back then (and still available). F^*%
But those days are gone. If you see a 328 now at $40K, there’ll be Nigerian contact details in the listing, or is up for bids on AutoBidMaster because all four corners are crunched in and there’s some dark stains on the driver’s seat. Same thing with the TR and it wasn’t that long ago they were valued as low as five figures. There was a guy on F’Chat who confessed he paid high $30s for his car and it wasn’t a beater either. This was around 6 or 8 years ago, before they (and everything else) took off. I tried buying a 328 last year and got beat badly every time. The one that Lash and Dominic inspected for me was not a perfect example and they assessed it as such, but the seller (dealer) refused to budge. Was even offended at my (market and condition-based) offer. So, I walked away. I was out and still am. This is what the market is right now and that’s it. You’re either in, or out. Hope, wishes and opinions won’t change that.
The same could be said for the 250 GTO. What did Nick Mason pay for his back in the ‘70s? Hey, guess what, that was a huge amount for a tired old race car. Now?
Just consider yourself lucky that you got your car at a great price from someone you know. I know you’ll keep it for a long time and enjoy every minute of it. I will with my cars. That’s the whole point.
Side note: I was at the dealer today (Ferrari Vancouver) to place an order for some parts and to discuss other things. Before leaving, I caught up with the sales manager and asked him how things were. He admitted he sold seven new Ferraris in the last 12 days...

It looks nice but still it’s 28 years old. Sitting isn’t great for these cars. First think I wonder is, does it have the upgraded diff? 1992 didn’t have them, of course it could have been added but with such low miles who would have done that? That’s a 20k dollar time bomb. I like low miles as much as the next guy but the fuel system, shocks, and all the rubber bits are a function of age and use. Odds are there are lots of old aged parts never replaced cause it wasn’t used. Nothing special or clean about the engine bay. The interior on my car looks as good or better so where’s the money spent? I would really want to look at the records but my god the price. For that price I could almost have a new Ferrari and Clyde’s car if I had wanted rather than just a single low miles 512tr. Of course that’s just me but they are a 100k car to me just like the 328 will always be a 40k dollar car to me. Just my opinion.

How?
It’s got a decent amount of mileage on there.
Other than an old lien and mileage correction statements, it has a solid, clean history.
It’s in gorgeous shape.
So this is a parts-car candidate?...
Confused...

I’m surprised you didn’t call out the 512TR they have for sale. You could’ve done a straight trade for your 296 at that rate:
