Yes, the motor is mounted lengthwise and this display is just the engine/electric motor combo – no transmission attached.

As much as this is designed for the future, they took essentially a several decade’s-old concept as a starting point. Ferrari had wide-angle V engines in various F1 cars back as late as the ‘70s and ran top-side exhausts as well. It makes for incredibly low CoG. Good for heat dissipation as well (keep the hot bits above where it cam waft up and away).

Not sure where they pack the batteries in the car...

Storage space looks to be pitiful. No room behind the seats and the front “trunk” has an awkward (but deep) space. I think a Lotus Elise could out-trunk this no prob.

Not a bad looking car.  Great, I suppose, for Clyde the fighter pilot, but for me, it's a bit too "video gamey".  I'm very much an "Analog Kid".

I presume the power unit installs longitudinally?  And hard to see in that angle, where does the final drive to the wheels come out?  Or is it small enough, and the wheelbase long enough, that there's gearbox/final power out to the wheels behind that - I'm guessing - hybrid unit??

And intake underneath?  That really is different....  hmmm.....

Thanks for sharing those photos Peter.

So I had the privilege to get a sneak peak of the 296 before it was unveiled at our dealership today.

I must admit, I like this car way more than the SF90. The design/shape is far more pleasing to the eye, including the interior.

They also had the ?power unit? on display in the showroom area and I?m impressed with how compact it is and the new intake/exhaust arrangement which makes perfect sense. I believe the intake manifold was made out of plastic, so I hope it?s meaty enough to be durable over the long term ? at least with it being underneath the car, it should be easy to get to if replacement is needed.

Good job cLyDe, I think you?ll really enjoy the car when you get yours.

By the way, this is a ?new? red that Ferrari introduced with this model ? Rosso Imola. Looks fantastic under the showroom lights and out in daylight.

Peter
