Not really. And as it was pointed out, it takes zero effort to alter the mileage on a car like this – unplug the speedo sender unit. It’s located on top of the transaxle case, right next to the crank pulley. Two second job. You don’t even have to jack the car up, just lie down on the ground and reach right beside the frame rail where the harness is clipped to. Done.

 

But how can that be Sheehan’s fault? Owner can simply plug it back in before handing it over to them and voila, it’s starting to count again. Paper trail shows little mileage accruing at smog tests/service jobs, so it “looks” good... Is the owner that devious to fix the mileage constantly? That’s their mental health problem. Which I highly, highly doubt.

 

What it comes down to is someone really loves the way the car looks, is content with what is being presented, considering the stats (rare color combo/year/spec/ownership history) and is willing to pay what it takes to get the car from someone else who wants it just as badly... As I type this, this car sold for $320,000.
