How many sports / exotic manufacturers are still making a manual trans?  ”

How can you forget a car that’s been out since 1989….?

Mazda. MX5/Miata. What more do you need in a sports car? I have had one for years, it never breaks, always starts, cheap to run and own and more fun then almost anything in the road. The Ferrari is a GT but on the very tight forest rides near my house there are several places the Mazda will run away from the 512tr.

I can’t remember where I saw it, but I was quite surprised at how many models of cars were still available with stick-shift. I’d really love to get my hands on the Caddy CT4-V Blackwing and it’s one of only a handful of luxury sedans that have that option – none of the comparable German cars come with that choice. Ha, don’t knock the ‘Stang! It’s a great “sports” car. And the Mini is about the only small car left out there. I see so many of them around here. I was really disappointed when Fiat pulled the 500 out of production. It was a great buy. When I was getting rid of the Smart car, I was deciding between the Mini and the Fiat to replace it, but I couldn’t justify the Mini’s higher price tag. I mean the Fiat was less than half. I’m glad I went with the 500 and – knock on wood – it’s been the absolute most reliable car I’ve ever owned.

I agree, the modern classic cars equipped with manual transmissions will always have a premium over the autos. We saw this start a few years ago, with cars like the 599. That won’t change anytime soon.

I think people see the appreciation over the years and believe it will continue.  The market for manual trans cars is really a market unto itself, and I don't know that it will ever correct for any period of time. How many sports / exotic manufacturers are still making a manual trans?  Lotus with the Emira ... BMW M3 and M4, Porsche (911, Boxster, Cayman) and who else?   I suppose a Ford Mustang is a sports car.  Mini Cooper ...

And manual trans will never be offered by Ferrari again, and pure ICE vehicles will also soon be a thing of the past.  Values are high for a reason and will continue to rise.

But it does for them! There seems to be a never-ending line of people who are willing to get into the habit. Can’t for the life of me figure that one out.

Is this just a way to launder money? Housing is quite robust lately, but maybe it’s just easier to “park” money in cars...

Admittedly, this car is top spec. Manual transmission, convertible (truest to the saying “when the top goes down, the price goes up”) and in the classic colors of Red/Tan.

What I’d love to see is one or more of those manual transmission Californias come up for sale. I don’t think any of them ever came to North America and I’ve heard there were only six or seven of those cars made. I’m sure they would go for an insane amount.

Lots of people also smoke crack. Doesn't mean it's for everyone.

But saying the prices are crazy doesn't stop the sales from occurring at these prices ... so being "right" (having an opinion others share) means what in the grand scheme?  Unless none of the high dollar transactions on BAT are real.

BAT is a mental institution, as evidenced by this: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1991-saab-900-spg-7/ I had one of these and it was fun and interesting, but no sane buyer is paying 57K for one. There are other auctions that seem to more realistically reflect what something is worth.

The prices on this site are for the most part insane, especially gated 6 speed Ferrari and any 911 variant.
