Yeah. When the transistor failed in my TR my fan could be at zero or maximum but nothing in between. In fact, when I fixed it, the transistor itself had not failed. It had merely gotten hot enough to unsolder itself (or maybe it was a crappy solder job or crappy solder to begin with). But simply re-soldering the contacts fixed it for many
