It’s not unusual to see the hotels buy up all the big ticket good seats. They give them away to all their high rollers…. Win/win. Giving them away as promotional items, they get a big tax write off along with the inflated room rate they comp. Then on the back side they pick up big income on the tables and selling rooms at inflated rates to schmucks like you and me. That’s why Joe public can never get ringside seats at a big fight. Because of my brother’s connections, I got a ringside seat at Leonard/Hearns. Not a single seat in the first 10 rows was sold, all comps. Face value, $20k. That was 1981.
