I worked with Rick Mullen there who did their aluminum work. I was uber-impressed with his skills. Doing the work on that fender was over $20k. I asked him (before I got that estimate) what he thought it would cost if I just said "restore the whole car exterior cosmetically." He looked at me and calmly asked, "Do you own a bank?" My car is aluminum over ash wood on top of the frame, and there are imperfections that he showed me (waves in the metal). He explained that to do it right they would have to remove the body work and restore the ash wood frame underneath.

I will never restore that car to that level. It's just a fun driver!

Yes – I thought the same when I saw their website. When I went there it was a totally non-descript warehouse in the middle of nowhere. I’m sure Dick (the former owner) must be retired by now, but he had a son who may have taken over, or perhaps they sold it.

The first time I went there was right after Audi started using aluminum for their frames. Karosserie had just purchased one of the new frame-straightening jigs built to work on aluminum frames. At the time he said there were only five of them in the US and they were insanely expensive.

Before they painted my quarter panel, I remember them shooting at least five test panels to get the color perfect since Rosso Corsa has varied so much over the years. Aside from being expensive, they were one of the best exotic vendors I’ve ever worked with. Everything done correctly the first time and on time with no oversight from me. Just professional all around.

Karosserie did a repair on my 1939 Rolls-Royce Phantom-III (aluminum bodywork). It required fabrication of a new fender which means fabrication of a wooden mock-up to mold the aluminum to. A LOT of time. From their website it looks a lot different than when I had that work done. You might be able to see a few pictures I posted on Facebook at the time by going here:

When I had my TR issue, the best advice I got (which turned out to be important) was to get the car to a Ferrari certified or experienced shop, and then let the claims adjustor (whether it’s your company’s or State Farm’s) do their estimate in the presence of the repair center guys. That way they can go over anything that’s Ferrari-specific with them and they know parts and labor on an ACTUAL basis rather than a book-rate basis. For example, my TR quarter panel was the last one in the US at the time I needed it, but since series 1 TRs were still hand-built to some extent, the factory body parts were a “guesstimate” at best. The repair center’s estimate had 100 hours in labor just to get that aluminum panel correctly fitted to my specific car. The book rate was 4 hours. The 575 won’t be nearly that bad, but you see my point.

Based on List recommendations, I used Karosserie in Pennsylvania and they were amazing. Their repairs were 100% first-rate (no one has ever been able to tell me which side of the car they worked on – the repairs were that good), and their owner was invaluable as an expert witness when I had to sue MY OWN insurance company to get them to repair the car properly.   https://karosserie.com/

Good luck!

Guys I was backed into while driving my 575

The other guy had State Farm insurance

When I contacted them they told me after I produced the accident report and the other driver got ticketed I could take my car anywhere I want too and get it fixed

They had one of there guys do and estimate

It was a low ball by a lot

So be aware if you get smacked by an State Farm vehicle they don’t play fair ( used car salesman)

I am giving them until Wednesday to pony up or else I go to my insurance company with documentation and let them handle it

Will keep you guys advised
