Nice to hear from you Anthony! I thought you may have left the F'List...

I expected it to be an action/racing movie. Certainly, around half of the 2+ minute trailer comprised of racing. And much like what Michael says, Laura Ferrari doesn't get a lot of mention in various publications (I don't have Brock's book, so according to Michael, he goes more into that aspect of Enzo's life), and the trailer showed quite a bit of an angry Laura... Watching any woman get angry is something I try very hard to avoid.

Movies like "Rush" and "Ford vs. Ferrari" had the right mix of action and drama and I enjoyed both of those. I just got bad vibes about this one.

Like I said, I will probably watch this some day. I'm just not going to pay what they're charging to watch it in a movie theatre. Besides, I literally had work to do in my garage and I accomplished a lot in 2 ½ hours (and most importantly, I was in the happiest of moods)...

I didn't think it was bad.  But I didn't expect it to be a car action movie.  I knew it was about the man.  It is all about expectations.  For example, I didn't expect it to be snowing heavy when I got up this morning.  Yet, I will need to clean the car off before I leave.

Well, you did one better than me because I haven't gone to see it. Yet. Maybe.

I might as well wait until I can stream it.

Back on December 26th, I was planning to see it, but when I Googled the showtimes for my local theatre, up came reviews. Since it was out for only one day, there were already 30+ reviews  with an average rating of 1.5 stars out of 5!

Naturally I clicked on them. The vast majority were men, but a handful were women. Do you want to take a guess who gave it 1/5 and 4/5?... With all of the men saying that if a person is expecting a movie like "Ford vs. Ferrari" with action-packed racing, don't bother and save your money (Michael, at least you saved half your money!). The women reviewers gave thumbs-up to the dramatic portrayal of Enzo's torrid marriage and family life.

Sorry, I got work to do in the garage. Far more fulfilling and productive.

I looked up the price list again and saw ÂGE-D’OR (that’s senior for you guys) $8.00. Without asking me for anything she figured I was over 65 right away. Never happened before. THAT HURT ! Stop laughing.

That reminded me why I stopped going to the movies 10 years ago. Scoop: The next big movies are all about the end of the world as we know it. Hollywood couldn’t find anything else to talk about. There is even one where Texas and California are at war against the rest of the u.s.a.

> As for the movie itself, I was disappointed as to how Michael Mann (director) thought that making the movie about Enzo, his wife, his mistress and illegitimate son (Piero) for 2/3 of the 2 hours would make it exciting. That should have been a 5-minute scene and then let’s talk about racing cars, drivers, mechanics, engineers, etc. Isn’t it what Ferrari was all about ? Not the soap opera of his personal life.

Reading the credits, I learned the movie was based on Brock Yates’ 1991 book. I still have this book and I remember that Yates was not too kind on Ferrari. He didn’t give much credit to his winning and sort of said Ferrari had not much competition back then since the other manufacturers were slowly falling apart.
