(See below) Well, this puts the Hamilton move into an interesting light. They plan to mine the experience of Lewis combined with LeClerc to build the 2026 team. Carlos could never provide that resource. From "This is Formula One": Charles Leclerc's contractual agreement with Ferrari goes beyond monetary considerations, focusing on elevating his technical feedback to a central role in future projects. - Ferrari is channeling significant resources towards Leclerc, aiming to establish a lasting partnership that prioritizes aero/mechanical advancements. - The emphasis on Leclerc's technical insights underscores Ferrari's commitment to his pivotal role in shaping the team's future. Frédéric Vasseur, the team principal, envisions Ferrari being fully prepared, both technically and operationally, for the challenges of 2026. - Leclerc's vision is straightforward: forge a lasting association with Ferrari, with the ultimate goal of initiating a winning cycle starting in 2026. Vasseur is confident in his ability to transform Ferrari's current situation during this mandate. - It's noteworthy that an exit clause becomes active from 2026, providing a contingency plan in case of major failures. While the possibility of surpassing Red Bull before regulatory changes remains, the accumulated advantage currently favors the latter. Ferrari's strategic focus lies in building a foundation for sustained success, aligning with Leclerc's aspirations and Vasseur's vision for the team's future competitiveness. - Leclerc has the option to activate an exit clause during the two additional years (3+2) of his contract if the 2026 car falls short of competing for victories. This provision is contingent on a specific number of victories rather than necessitating a world championship triumph. The agreement allows flexibility for Leclerc to reassess his commitment based on the team's competitive performance in terms of race wins. Or, it could be the best thing to happen to this team in years.
Maybe if he is in a different car, he can shine.
Or, maybe his best days are behind him and it'll be more of the same lacklustre results.
We shall see...
Peter
