296 GTB. died

I'm in the process of buying a 2023 296 GTB that had the HVB replaced recently.

The first time there was an issue was July 2025 due to a non-start issue. The LVB and HVB batteries were dead and it was towed to Ferrari. The dealership fixed it, but the owner couldn't pick up the car for 2 weeks so the car sat outside, unplugged, waiting for pickup. When the owner arrived to pickup the vehicle, the battery was dead, and the same issue came up. There was a fault in the charging port door for "contactor stuck open" and replaced the part. Then the entire HVB was replaced with new serial numbers logged. The car threw a code due to the HVB being configured for a lithium-ion battery but the car had an AGM 12v installed. They updated the software and it was fixed.

They eventually drove the car home. Owner admitted to not plugging the car in regularly, and in January 2026 the car was brought back in. The LVB failed a load test and SC510 software update was performed (which included updates to HVB, ION, and MCA modules).

So both the LVB and HVB have been replaced under warranty. The car has been driven ~300 miles since January 2026 and no more visits back to the service center.

I'm trying not to be spooked by this, as I know the hybrid battery warranty is for 5 years. Who knows how many times they've done this fix and if anything pops up since then, or if they've identified the necessary fixes and this shouldn't be an issue anymore.

Its just kind of crazy how the car is a paperweight with voltage and software issues.
