That's AWESOME. Dang. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: 1. Get rid of ground effects. Keep the giant wings, to give the sponsors some place to put the billboard, but crank the ride height up so much you have little if no downforce. It'll slow the cars WAY down, but it will also make passing much easier - like in the video, you can stick right on someone's tail for laps. Make tires big and sticky, to help make up in mechanical grip what you lose in aero grip. 2. No semi-auto gearboxes. Make drivers SHIFT the damn cars. This way, you could get rid of traction control, and POLICE it. No ABS, no TC, no semi-auto gearboxes. Yeah, so it may not be at the pinacle of technology anymore, but so what? The racing would be so much better, we'd still be glued to it. Even more so! One thing I really like is the candor in the interviews back then. You got to hear the real driver's feelings and what was really going on with the team, not some canned response that is virtually the same week after week like we have today. As for an F1 racing video, check this one out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cCRUvo_FYc Even a lockup doesn't yield the position. Now that is some fantastic racing! I believe our beloved F1 mix is faulty. Bernie, Max, and the FIA need to institute rules (or more likely remove rules) that will allow this type of racing to occur again. We have not seen this type of wheel to wheel action in many years. Cars able to pass at will and then be repassed again and again. This single lap has more passing for the lead than most modern F1 races. And that is a shame. I'm sure he is referring to some of the antics that resulted in Prost clinching the championship in 1989. Can anyone else comment on some of the other issues that Senna could've been referring to in this press conference? Also, why Mansell would agree to these points? There is a lot of info on the web, just curious as to viewpoints from those that were following F1 closely during the late 80's/early 90's.
