lash,
i had a 1985 from new for about 15 years. bought in germany (grey car) when exchange was 3 marks to the dollar and imported it myself and had it federalized. had intended to sell it, which would have paid for my two month trip and then some, but someone totalled my other car, so i kept it. its replacement was a 94 E500, which won out over C36. i agree with brian that the c36 would be a better choice if you could get a manual tranny (don't remember). i think c43 only came auto. i have a 1986 article describing what the f1 drivers had for a daily driver and like 16 out of 23 had a 190 16 valve.
