Dave sez "Also the cable and gearbox are notorious for getting gummed up inside which can really slow the mechanism down, or get stuck."

Boy - you gots that right Dave. 10 years ago (!? wow, that long ago?) when we got our '78 GTS, it took two feet on the accelerator pedal to move it. Try smoothly double clutching into a turn with THAT handicap. heh heh. Well, I digress - point is - the good ol EYE-Talian grease had gone the way of old soap. So I decided the time had come - out came the accelerator pedal assembly and I took it apart.

Hmmmm, the pedal is struck in the mount - tap tap tap with a small plastic hammer and then a drift to get it out. NOW, lets clean up the bearings - spritz spritz spritz - ??? Needle bearings??? THAT stuff was a hard as a rock. More cleaning and viola - smooth operation.

SO - the pinkish white stuff used by the factory is no ones friend 20 years later. Guess that could be the problem in the cable guide axels. OH - careful about taking that thing apart. Watch out for how many turns go where as that will decide where the window ends up. Golly - I just love these cars. heh heh

DOUG
PS - was told to consider raising window only when engine was running to give it the volage necessary.
