Your trade-in sounds like the one I had converted to non-screwdown push buttons. The screwdown ones kept catching on things and breaking off when they were in operating position. The non-screwdown ones are much more convenient, but I dare not go swimming. I kept the original parts and would convert it back if I ever decide to sell it. The old Rolex Cosmographs have become very collectable.

had an older stainless steel Cosmograph (I'm not sure of the model number any more) that was a "manual wind" but with screw down pushbuttons that I foolishlly traded in on my newer Cosmograph, gold and stainless. It was an "impulse" sort of purchase, sort of prompted by my wife who had heard me complain that I had wanted a stainless and gold one, and that the older stainless Cosmograph had been giving me a lot of trouble requiring almost annual service at Rolex. She also added that I would wear the newer stainless and gold watch in more business situations (she was commenting on the fact that I didn't wear my other Oyster Date Just (model # = ?) or my gold "President" very much and that they just sat in the safe "wasting away". I should have kept the older Cosmograph and just bought the newer one, but the manager at the jewelry store made an offer for the trade and after I insisted she double it (I think I still undervalued the older watch) the evil deed was done.
In any event, I do wear the newer one regularly, with the Citizen Skyhawk, as [reviously noted, pretty much a farm watch.
