The 'lucky dog' rule refers to the NASCAR practice where, when a caution occurs, the first lapped car is elevated to the lead lap again. As it applies to Formula One, in 2007 the first car not on the lead lap will be allowed to pass the safety car as the drivers bunch up during a full course yellow.

I hate it, it introduces a form of lottery to racing. Call me 'curmudgeon' but I prefer pur sang racing; racing as a sport and not a form of 'entertainment'.

Of course, like Dennis, I could be completely wrong...
