First wins for Postiglione, Barde and Sicart in the World Finals Today, the Monza circuit hosted the first races of the 2006 Ferrari World Finals. The event that closes the Prancing Horse's racing season will end on Sunday 29 October with a parade of the single-seater cars prepared by the Maranello F1 Clienti department and the demonstration by Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro that is the key moment of the final day and which will also serve as the occasion to pay tribute to Michael Schumacher's Formula 1 career. Also on the packed card at this event is a display of the exclusive FXX Programme laboratory car and a special initiative from the Scuderia Ferrari Club with some members taking part in the final round of the 2006 Soap Box race, for four wheeled vehicles without engines, based on the imaginative designs of these enthusiasts. Today's programme included qualifying for the Shell Ferrari Historic Challenge and the Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy, followed by the first races of the championships featuring the F430 Challenge car. In the Italian Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy, victory went to Vito Postiglione (Stile F,) who crossed the finish line ahead of Andrea Belluzzi (Motor) and Livio / Montani (Rossocorsa,) second and third respectively. With the points he picked up today, Belluzzi, the San Marino driver has taken the title in the Italian Pirelli Trophy before the final race of the championship. Standing on the top step of the podium in the Shell Cup for gentlemen drivers was Vanni Campari (Motor / Sauro.) Plenty of excitement and spectacle came up next in the race that saw competitors from both the European and North American Pirelli Trophies line up together on the grid. First to take the chequered flag in the opening race was Ange Barde (Modena Cars Racing,) ahead of Ross Kaiser (Ferrari GB Dealer Team) and Max Blancardi (Auto Palace / Star Rent Competition.) First of the competitors from North America was Michael Zoi (Shelton Ferrari / Auto Palace,) fourteenth overall. Jonathan Sicart (Modena Sport / Yellow GT Challenge) took top honours in the event for drivers in the European Shell Cup. In the separate category, in its last ever year, for those running the 360 Modena Challenge, the wins went to Giorgio Massazza (Rossocorsa) and Bjorn Grossmann (Autohaus Gohm / G2 Racing,) in the Italian and European series respectively.
