Wow. Interesting that 512TRs over there are getting the same money as base
Testarossas here...

Wonder what the current import/conversion costs would be?

Subject: [Ferrari] Elton Johns Ferrari (for you Clyde)
I forgot to mention this......I have spread the word that I am looking for a
355 LHD to replace the 328GTS. I got a call 3 weeks ago from the owner of an
independent (very well known) Ferrari garage and race shop (they race a 512TR)
to ask if I was interested in a 512TR. This was Elton Johns car which was sold
at a big auction 3-4 years ago along with all his ferraris and most of his
car collection. The 512TR went into a provate collection and is now for sale.
(lots of people here seem to want to own a car owned by somebody famous for some
reason). As I recall the car was a 1995 and had only 5000 miles on it and the
price was a very reasonable £55k. The shop said the car was immaculate. Now a
normal 512TR of that year has generally 25,000-30,000 miles on it and
generally are selling for low 40s (about the same as early 355s) so it wasn't to much
a premium for a very very low mileage car with loads of dealer servicing..
Unfortunately my stupid (standard) english garage is just to narrow for the
damn car and really those cars are a pain to drive on our narrow roads so as
much as I have always wanted a 512TR it will have to wait until I return to the
states....Still, it would have been an interesting buy because the car is
almost like new and thats a pretty rare care for the UK.
