Howdy, all. Thanks to everyone for the helpful tips about things to do in Los Angeles. As it turns out, since the primary reason for the trip was to visit my sister and her family, we spent most of it allowing the little kids to play with each other, at various locales. So while I managed to squeeze in a brief tour of Petersen (while the girls napped and the Lovely Jamie read the Journal) -- really quite impressive -- and managed a whirlwind tour of some good (and one GREAT) restaurant, my wish list of stuff really went, sob, unfulfilled. It would have been nice to see the Griffth Observatory, the Reagan Library, and a few more things. And I wanted to see the Toddler, but we ended up doing, literally a 20 minute stroll of Manhattan beach (what a nice and EXPENSIVE town, yowza) before the kids started whining for naps. The car-related highlight of the trip was when a Boston friend called me at 6 am PST, waking me up on Saturday morning. I couldn't fall back asleep, so hopped in the car for a quick run to Irvine to check out "Cars and Coffee" - wow, while I cannot envision living in SoCal, I must admit to severe envy of the car scene. An impromptu, informal car show draws more exotica and cool machinery than any 5 organized shows in New England PUT TOGETHER. Very cool. And I managed to sneak back, complete with pastries from King's Hawaiian bakery, before TLJ got going. Last note - traffic was horrible, even on Saturdays, but the exotica really is everywhere. Porsches every 5 minutes, no exaggeration, and even Ferraris at least 3-5 times a day. Vty, --Dennis
