Phil,
I am not saying that having $18K invested in a 944 turbo is bad, but it 
is when the car is worth $12K or less when you are done.  If Tom has 
$18K to spend why not spend all of it on a nicer 911 or newer 944 turbo 
with super low mileage that doesn't need anything?  Why get upside down 
just to fix a car back up?  The only 944 turbos that are bringing over 
$20K are 89 S's with sub 20K mileage.
