I think the operative word here (although there may be more than one keyword in this mess) is "fun." Are you NUTS Tom? I may be wacko but an E30 M3 is not cheap to own. I am a big BMW fan but this is not a budget sportster to own. I am sure you have heard but in case you haven't, S50/52 (US M3 inline 6) swaps into the E30 M3 are also popular for more power. It's also cheaper to do that than an engine rebuild on the S14 in the car! If you do find a clean chassis, consider the swap as also making it reliable. BTW, have a friend that builds the stage two twin screw on the S50/52 motors. 500 hp!!! You can build this monster for about $25,000 complete (yes, price of car and other upgrades included) and it's relatively reliable. It's nice running side by side with crotch rockets at 150 and accelerating on the highway... Now competitive Miata's have been built for less than $3,000. One that you would want to be seen in for a couple of thousand more. Fun factor on both are high. Will you make up your mind already!!!! You are driving me nuts. You searching for cars is making me want to buy another project! Rodney
