Speaking of the Fiat. Back in the late 60s when I was in high school
and walking everywhere I used to visit the local sports car dealership. He
sold Fiat, Triumph, MG and Volvo. Eventually he started selling Toyota and
started making *real* money. But I fell in love with the Fiat 124 he had in
65 or 66. The 124 Spider (the precursor to the 2000 IIRC) stayed in
production for many years while the Coupe was dropped after a while. To
mean they were both gorgeous, but the Coupe os the one that I can't forget.
It had a large greenhouse and sexy grill reminiscient of a 275 GTS Ferrari
(IMHO). I check Hemmings for coupes but so far have not seen any.

Tom,
I can give a 2nd or 3rd vote for the Fiat 2000. We have a late 1979 (tagged
as a 1980) carbureted version and just love the car. Stupid cheap and
everything is still available for the car for very little money. Just get
an International Auto Parts catalogue. www.international-auto.com
As a plus, there is a fairly active Fiat club here in Oklahoma, the Roamin Chariots (yep that is how they spell it). The last club news letter is downloadable from here. http://faculty-staff.ou.edu/C/Ronald.P.Conlon-1/newsletter/Fall06newsletter. doc
Also there is FLU that you can join. http://www.flu.org/
The Fiat Spiders are not fast but once you get them up to speed, you
virtually never have to slow down to turn. In my opinion, they look very
sharp, are still fun to drive, and my wife just loves it. And if you
haven't owned a convertible in Oklahoma, it is just about the perfect state
to own one in (almost never cold).
I don't know if I could trust one enough to be my only car, but I do know several guys that have done just that.
So, Richard, what are the details on the one you have for sale?

Yeah, we had a Fiat 2000 Spyder in Arizona. Nice car, I remember a road
test comparison some magazine did back in the mid 70s I think, back when it
was the Fiat 124 Sport Spyder. 6 cars were tested, and the Fiat was never
the top rated car in any category, but it came out as best all around.
Shifter wasn't bad, lots of body flex (duh) and the brakes (compared to
"modern" cars) sucked, but it was pretty inside and out, and sounded great
thanks to the aftermarket Abarth exhaust we had installed. Just fun. Slow
fun, but fun.

Tom, that Fiat 2000 Richard references, is a great car. It has all theplusses of an MGB with none of the downside - and it has Pinninfarina looks!
And should you have to service it, you can do so for milk-money. One of my
favorites.

Otherwise they are a blast and extremely comfortable cars to drive.(Late Fiat) contact me off-list.
If anyone has interest in a virtually perfect Pininfarina Spyder 2000et al.Cheers, Richard Crump, 328 GTS, 944S2, Pininfarina Spyder, TR6, TR3, XKE, MGBGT,
