I rarely chime-in any more, but this topic prompted me to surface. The way I
see it, there are kit cars (the Rodney Dangerfields of the auto world), and
then there are "specialty vehicles." If you like old-school muscle cars, you
might be interested in a specialty vehicle project that I am personally
involved in: www.musclecarsmotorsports.com

The heavily modified body is 100% carbon fiber (zero parts are interchangeable
with the original car) and built to Enzo-level quality -- and that's not hubris
speaking. The body is mated to a tube frame chassis. Power is 500 hp+ (modified
'06 Z06, or engine of your choosing). There will be a choice between a manual
or sequential gearbox/transaxle. Interiors will be built, and optioned, to
customer's wishes. Target weight, wet at the curb, is under 2400 lbs. When
sorted, the performance envelope will be phenomenal. The yellow one you see
will be a track version for the gentleman who is financing the project.

To prove that these cars are not stereotypical, straight-line knuckle draggers,
we're thinking of making its debut at the Nürburgring as a publicity stunt. (I
mean, when was the last time you saw a '69 Camaro on the Ring?!)

We're only building a dozen or so a year. Price is not finalized, but
guaranteed to be way, way up there. Believe it or not, we already have a
handful of deposits: a few from the States, the others ROW. Where we can
legally do so, we'll sell the cars turn-key. Where that's not possible they'll
be sold as a roller, with the engine being added post-sale.

After this, we'll probably do a special version based on the equally famous 71
'Cuda and '69 Mustang.

Just trying to keep things interesting ...

Best,
