For the predominance of videos such as youtube which are in flash video format, 
flv,  
present the url of the video to http://keepvid.com/ .  They will convert it and 
you can 
download the flv file which you simply need to name and save.  FREE

To play the flash video files, download the FREE RIVA player from 
http://rivavx.de/
Installing this will allow you to simply click on the flv files for them to 
play.
