Jim:

I've owned a '75 308GT4 for about 5 years now. Any questions,
let me know.

Parts seem very available, either directly from
www.owners.ferrari.com - the official factory site, or
else from T. Rutlands.

There are lots of 'gotchas' for a DIY'er, but with careful
research on internet (ie - ask lots of questions), there is
little that you can't do yourself. FWIW, buy virtually every
different 13mm wrench that you can find. Short, long,
twisted, bent, crow's foot, self-ratchet, open end, closed
end. I must have 20 of them and occasionally find that
I don't have one that will work.

All of the usual Ferrari warnings apply - inspection, etc.,
but you've been around enough to know all that. It wouldn't
hurt to have an existing GT4 owner look at it too, as he
would likely be able to tell if there have been some hack
job mods done to the car. Improvised repairs and "improvements"
seem common on these cars.

Again, write if you have questions.

Hans.

How about an actual FERRARI thread???

I've been given the green light by my lovely Wife to investigate a good
looking but not yet PPI'd '75 308 GT4 that looks interesting to me. It
could be my 1st Ferrari, unless Jenkins will sell me his 328 for $25K then
it will be that one. :-) What I am interested in is feedback from the list
on this particular model.

Would this make a good 1st Ferrari if it checked out?

How is the parts availability?

Is it relatively easy to work on for the DIY'er? (My list memory says yes it
is, but I'll be searching the archives if they're still up)

I could ask a thousand questions, so let's start with comments from the
F-List gallery..

Why am I looking at this car you ask? Well, for one, the price is right
(sub 20K). Two, I like the style. Three, its my favorite Ferrari color!

Why not a newer 308 or even a 328 you ask? Well, with 2 young kids and a
lovely Wife who doesn't really understand my need for a F-car, plus saving
like crazy so we can retire before we go back into diapers, I'd better not
spend that much now.

Thoughts, suggestions, comments?

TIA,

JIM
