Outlook question

I'm noticing that Outlook takes SIGNIFICANTLY longer to grab email messages
off of the Veryzon/Yahoo server vs. Outlook Express.  Why is that?    I have
Outlook set up to check the server frequently.   Messages used to come
immediately to my Blackberry and to OE within 5 min. or so.   Now with
Outlook, the time difference is hours!
