There are pros and cons but generally LCD forte is 45" and under.  Plasma best 
over that
until the price hurts.  Go front projection for theater size.  Integrated rear 
projection LCD for best price.
Compare front projection / rear projection / overhead projection / plasma / lcd 
/ CRT 
and you'll find plenty of picture differences of black level, viewability in 
daylight, 
contrast, image burn, lamp replacement.  CRT beats 'em all for picture but size 
is limited and Sony for example will have NO standard tube sets next year.  
Compare meaning spending at least an hour viewing each technology...their a bit
like chairs...until you spend time in them you don't know if you'll really be 
comfortable.

Real status is having your house broken into and they only steal the bulbs in 
your projector.

Video technology half life presently is one year.  I.e. whatever you buy will be
sutatantially bettered in quality and price in 12 months.

Bottom line - you need different technology for viewing HD movies, games and 
the news/general cable junk.
Don't try for a universal tv, optimize each area.
