>And what about an LCD instead? Looks like plasma is disappearing at an >accelerating rate. There are pros and cons but generally LCD forte is 45" and under. Plasma best over that until the price hurts. Go front projection for theater size. Integrated rear projection LCD for best price. Compare front projection / rear projection / overhead projection / plasma / lcd / CRT and you'll find plenty of picture differences of black level, viewability in daylight, contrast, image burn, lamp replacement. CRT beats 'em all for picture but size is limited and Sony for example will have NO standard tube sets next year. Compare meaning spending at least an hour viewing each technology...their a bit like chairs...until you spend time in them you don't know if you'll really be comfortable. Real status is having your house broken into and they only steal the bulbs in your projector. Video technology half life presently is one year. I.e. whatever you buy will be sutatantially bettered in quality and price in 12 months. Bottom line - you need different technology for viewing HD movies, games and the news/general cable junk. Don't try for a universal tv, optimize each area.
