I had one for 3 yrs and 14k or so miles. It was a CA car with minimal rust. Mine was extremely reliable and never had the 2nd gear issue. I could shift into second normally even in winter with Redline synthetic. It was a great "spare" car for when something fell off my Jetta...again.
