For my insurance renewal last month -- a Chubb policy with stipulated
replacement values -- my 1992 512TR couldn't be insured for more than $53k
(unless I obtained an appraisal). I have no idea how they might have
arrived at that unrealistic number. I too told them I would buy as many
more at that price as they would sell to me.

Actually if you totaled your car that is about what you would get from the insurance company

Good news for the disciples of Clyde and those of you saving pennies for a 355.
I got my property tax bill today and this year the state of SC values my '98
355 Spider at $46,830. That results in about a 17% drop in my tax bill from
last year, so I'm pretty happy.
Now the only issue is how to tell the state that I will buy every intact 355
spider they can find at that price... :-)
