Dr. Steve:
You simply press the button on the affected ECU harness for some specific time period (in engine state KOEO: Key On Engine Off) which IIRC is 2.5 to 5 sec long.
The check engine lamp then flashes out a 4 digit code.
Or a series of 4 digit codes.
All codes start w/a 1, 2, or a 4.
example:
flash pause flash flash pause flash pause flash
would be 1211
The codes can be interpreted in a table in the manual for your specific year of vehicle.
The 1995 should be equipped w/ M2.7 similar to the 95 F355.

PS: Once you've figured out the problem and fixed it - you can clear the codes by holding the same button longer - I think again (from memory) it's 10 sec or longer.
