Thanks Don & others - you said<<get a few 500GB hard drives>> That seems to be the most common suggestion although a cabinet with RAID5 was also suggested -- I think I'd end up with a server based household system - like a small office - a main server with a enclosure for a couple of 500GBs and ethernet to my 2 computers - which might not be bad. I guess I could hook it to my entertainment system with the proper cards/wiring/etc - I assume I could access it with the proper type of am/fm receiver - will probably need something newer than what I have - or at least something to interface with the computer....

I'll bet Crutchfield has something ;-)

Thanks to all who helped -

Get a few 500GB hard drives, copy the contents of the CDs to them,
index them with a desktop search engine -

Howdy Ya'll,
I have a ton of CD's and DVD's that are becoming increasingly difficult
to manage. Finding stuff I know is here for example. Has anyone found a
good storage tower or other device to make managing them easier?

I have my software CDs in a photo-album like book but there's many more.
Especially ones I burn myself.

Any ideas?

TIA -
