Brit the main problem with the Series 1 TR is that it is not a 512 TR.
There is a host of differences between the 2 cars from engine to suspension
and major brake up grades as well. The later year s/n 512 tend to have the
upgraded transaxle which is the weak point on the series 1 and 512 TR. As I
spoke to you earlier no one knows which s/n they started putting the upgrade
on. It is my belief that they started with the late 93 models forward but I
have no s/n to substantiate this but there seems to be less transaxle
failures of late model 512 TR's. if you give me your address I can mail you
all the articles I have on the entire TR line to include the 512/M, so that
you can see the mired of differences between the 3 models. With reference to
the 512 M the big difference is the titanium connecting rods which give the
car 12 more HP. And the styling. I love the wheels on the 512 M and I am
looking for a set for my car.
As for the cars low mileage this might be more of a problem than meets the
eye. I would like to know how many miles per year the car had on it.

Hope this answered some of your questions.

Listers,

The search for the LHD 512TR continues but they are as rare as hens teeth
and I may have to go to Switzerland or France for the car. In the meantime I
have been offered a LHD 1988 TR from a FOC club member with some mods (and
all the original parts). Now I have talked to Clyde in person and he never
fails to tell me what a bag of sick the TR is but the price difference is
about £12000 and after the little incident of totalling the 328 I am going
to drive a bit slower regardless in the future.

This TR has a 512 diff and tranny, 18" comp wheels, upgraded clutch and
servo, F355 front brakes, and has only 12k miles on it. The last 3k have
been spent on the track with the FOC classic race series here in the UK so
the car is well known and it was taken care of by GTO engineering. Just had
the full service with belts, valves, ect. I realise that 3k of racing miles
puts a lot of wear on the car but its still pretty low miles.

Any thoughts on these upgrades vs the full 512TR package?

Britt

Jim:

Nice cafr. Having been where you are just about two years ago I remember
exactly how you feel.

And, I'm glad DeMoise Trucking came through for you. I've had nothing but
good luck with them but I always worry when I recommend a vendor, carrier,
etc.,

that it will work out all right, and the recommendation will be
vindicated.
