Geez! What a quiet list!!! Did anybody, perchance, happen to see the F1
race in Bahrain? I thought it interesting, but even though there was quite a
lot of overtaking, I am really getting bored with the fact that cars can
zoom along and then they get into the turbulent 1/2 second gap area and from
then on it is 90% yawn/ ho hum/let's wait for the next pit stop and hope for
the best....

I concur. I still watch, but ask myself why.
Fact is if you watch the last 5 minutes of qualifying and the first two laps of the race you have seen 95% of the action, barring an engine failure or an accident of epic proportions. So much regulation has been done to slow the cars down and make the races safe, yet still interesting. But F1 remains a boring high velocity parade.
My suggestion is to completely abandon any regulation of the cars aside from roll cages, fire extinguishers and the like. Instead, design courses where half the track is at high aerodynamic speeds, and half is tight up and downhill low speed twisties requiring mechanical grip to succeed. Keep courses wide enough to allow passing.
Throw in a drive-thru teller section with high curbs and appropriate padding and have a RR crossing that closes at random intervals twice during the race for five minutes.
Also regulate available fuel - 150 liters max? Insist the cars are unmodified showroom stock aside from the above safety considerations. Bonus points if the showroom stock models have roll cages, 5-point belts, etc.
Finally all pit stops for fuel and tire changes must be carried out after the car is parallel parked between two car-size objects 20 feet apart.
And insist that all drivers who park their hot supermodel girlfriends in the pits must alsol bring their mother-in-laws, who are then given microphones to nag said driver during the race.
THAT would be a race worth watching! Make it even better by having a dozen 3 ton fish trucks circulating around the course as mobile chicanes. Mistakes will be rewarded a lap full of 3 day old flounder.

Not really giving anything away, but some might infer from the post below
what might have happened, so...
Scroll down.
Can't believe that I haven't seen any postings yet with regard to the race
today. Must be that nice weather (comparatively speaking).
So, what do we all think of the Ferrari driver lineup now? And, the same
could be asked of McLaren's as well, I suppose. The proof of the pudding
will be in the eating, of course, but any speculation on which drivers
will end up as #1 on (what seems to be) the two major competitive teams,
Ferrari and McLaren? I'll bet Barichello is eating his heart out, moving
to Honda. "Geez, I coulda had a (Ferrari) V8!" Or was Raikkonen already
signed when Rubens decided to bail? Oh well.

the steps carefully when you get to the low 20s...
