Britt,

Thanks for sharing your story on learning the history of your car.
I've really learned a lot on one of my cars, a 1939 Rolls-Royce
limousine, and this has really enhanced my appreciation and love of my
car.

My car's original owner was 83 when he bought the car (born in 1856).
One of his great grandfathers (or maybe it was great great) was the
third US Supreme Court Chief Justice (and his son was one of the first
governors of Vermont), another great great grandfather was a guy named
Noah Webster (yes, that Webster). Last Friday I was at the funeral of
the owner of my car from 1955-1972....a lady who (with her husband)
owned a company called Klein Chocolates (their factory is now the M&M
Mars factory in Elizabethtown, PA), and she also started a vintage
tire company called Universal Tire. When she sold the car, it went to
a guy named Tom Barrett (don't know if he turned it around in the
early 1970s....put an email in to Barrett-Jackson once and not
suprisingly heard nothing back, but maybe if I tried harder....). At
one point, my car was used by the United Nations at Lake Success, but
I have no further information on how it was used in this capacity.
And now the car is owned by me! Learning the history of the car and
its owners is a really fun part of ownership....keep digging and find
out as much as you can! :-)

Thanks to Francis Newman (a UK Lister) I have been in touch with the guy who
sold my 400i originally in January 1980 to its first owner. You may remember
my post from two weeks ago where the son of the original owner got in touch
with information on the car. It turns out the sales guy STILL works for Ferrari
GB and he is going to try to locate the paperwork on the car from the original
sale.

How cool is that?
