IMHO, 6 weeks is more than enough time for a relatively small package to make it across the US. I routinely ship small packages the same distance in 3 or 4 days. One thing to remember - after a certain number of days, the auction drops off the ebay radar - it will stop appearing on your "FeedBack" screen and while that doesn;t make it impossible to leave feedback it does start to become more difficult to complain.

I suggest you contact the seller and request shipping info immed - give him 3 days to respond. Worst case is he will ignore your emails - perhaps he'll surprise us and provide some help locating the package. Sometimes honest mistakes happen. When you write him send your address and ask him to confirm that's where it was sent.

Unfortunately, if that's the only radio he had and it has been lost there'll only be one option - to return your money. Hopefully he'll do that without waiting -

   Sorry I couldn't be more helpful -

Subject: [Ferrari] OT: Ebay advice needed

I know a lot of you out there are ebay gurus...wanted some quick advice
here.

On April 3rd, I won an ebay auction for a sweet vintage car audio
amplifier.
I sent payment through paypal the next day and asked the buyer when he
would
send it and he responded by saying he'll ship it on monday (it was a
friday).

Two weeks from that supposed monday, didn't get anything. I figure he's in
LA, I'm in NYC....trying to give the benefit of the doubt as he had good
feedback (but not perfect feedback as I'd later find out). I send emails
to
contact him, get nothing back for the next few days.

I decide to contact ebay and they said that I should take it up with
paypal
to make a claim. So a day or two goes by and I write the guy an email
telling him that if I don't get a response in a day or two, that I will
contact paypal and void the entire transaction, blah blah blah.

The next day he writes back the following:

" Your amp is on it's way. I can't send it priority because it costs too
much to ship. I sent it ground. USPS. I'm not trying to rip you off or
anything. I had my little girl in the hospital for a week with RSV. I'm
not trying to scam you or anything. I have pretty good feedback. And i
know how paypal works. Let me know when you get the amp and enjoy.
This
amp is the best! Sorry for the dealy but you will get your amp. I
promise
Thanks!"

It's been 11 days since he wrote that email.

How f**** long does it take worst case scenario to ship a 3 foot , 10-15
lb
amp from LA to NYC??

Of course I'm being very optimistic here and assuming it really was sent,
etc. I spoke with USPS and they said they'll wait 14 days before
investigating...so I guess that's the worst case scenario.

Look, I'll be honest, I'm probably being naive here....totally blinded by
the fact that this is a gem of an amp that's very rare and hard to find.
If
it were any other commodity I would have just cancelled this long ago...

I figure I have a few days left before it's time to write it off and void
this transaction...

Oh yeah, I just remembered that I never got any tracking # at all for this
stuff and have asked for it too.

It's hard to read this guy....the RSV thing seems sincere, but even then
why
is it so hard to keep people in touch or have someone do this stuff for
you
(and I've offered my phone # numerous times)?? What bothers me the most is
that I don't get contact from him at all until he was
threatened......major
pet peeve of mine. I really am in no rush to get it.....just hate the
doubt.

Maybe I need others to tell me the obvious...it's hard to let go of the dream though.

;-)

thanks,

Fellippe

ps - In case anyone is wondering what this 12 volt 250 GTO I'm hopefully
getting...it's the Phoenix Gold MS1000...circa mid to late '90s. If anyone
here has that and wants to sell, we have a deal. :-)
