The FIA and Formula One teams will begin discussions about the sport’s future during the next Grand Prix weekend, at Monaco.

FIA president Max Mosley intimated that teams have agreed to implement systems that use regenerative energy and recovered waste heat, possibly in 2009. He also wants teams to think about additional “green” and car-industry-relevant measures.

The agenda will include talks about the introduction of forced- induction, 2.2-liter V6 engines, running on biofuel, with a 10,000- rpm rev limit and a five-race life span. Spec bodywork (which would be extremely controversial), power-boost buttons, electronic stability control and all-wheel drive also will be considered. Mosley sent a preliminary discussion document to all F1 engine manufacturers plus—intriguingly—Audi and Ford. <snip>
