OK Randy - now our '78 GTS doth not emit stink after a hefty run about. But why does yours?

Hmmmm, so, consulting our parts manual, there is a thingy that is portrayed as a rather thick item - in the drawing - with parts name in Italian, of course. Looks like a very thick gasket or heat sink or some sort of heat insulator. Could your carbs have been removed, the thick heat sinks disappear and in their place scrawny gaskets?

Then on the other hand, could you be running a bit lean? Lean running equals high temps - - just this side of pinging. Then on the other hand, are you sure you are NOT pinging and who can hear that in a Ferrari?

My guess is that you bring in your cavallino after a jolly jaunt and the carbs boil away the fuel in the bowls because theory are quite hot. Next time we go out, I will make it a point to hit the carbs with a pyrometer. Now I am curious.

But this is just a guess - nevertheless - - - -

Subject: [Ferrari] stinky question update

Thank you all for the wonderful suggestions for my smelly 308. No, I did not
eat at Taco Bell, there are no dead Porsche drivers in my garage, and I
especially appreciate the garage sized air freshener. My mechanic tells me the
cats on my car are hollow (apparently for some time) and I know the A/I pump is
gone and the A/I ports sealed off. I tried leaving it outside to cool off
for about an hour and a half after my run today. After a while inside it had
that delicious old car motor smell I love. The bad odor must be fuel or oil
burning off of something. The smell is quite distinctive, so I'll try to track
it down.
