The engines are manufacturer specific. However, they no longer resemble anything in a production car. Example: I saw a supposed "small block Chevy" NASCAR motor. The cylinder head did not resemble in any way anything in either the old small block nor the new LS1 series motors. It was sort of a cross between a big block head and the LS1 head, without the adjoining ports of the old small block. Another example is the Toyota engine - it's completely NASCAR specific with no resemblance to anything else Toyota.

Hey guys:
Paint work aside, what differences exist between a NASCAR Dodge, Ford or Chevy? Does a Toyota have a Toyota engine? I know NASCAR supplies a sealed black box to each car that limits revs, etc. Is NASCAR truly single spec racing or if not, how much difference is in the cars? The bodys are identical.
