I've heard those stories from the big commie and ex-commie cities in Asia but I have never visited them (somehow). I lived in eastern AND western Siberia for a few years, but never in a big city. I found the people in the small towns (Murmansk and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk) to be pretty much 'just people' - just poor people. Then again, like my note before, one can see the tongue-in-cheek. :-) I had fun in Russia but I like cultural complexity. rick
